An Annual Showcase of Emerging Artists
We are thrilled to continue our growing performance tradition: KAL | Dance a stage where emerging dancers and choreographers share their craft in a professional, inspiring setting.
This mixed-bill concert brings together the elegance of classical ballet, the bold spirit of contemporary dance, and the vibrant talent of Kalamazoo’s arts community on one stage. Each season explores a new theme that reflects the journey of young artists as they discover not only how to dance, but why they dance.
2027 Theme: Constellations
After celebrating individual artistry in Fragments of Light, this season looks upward and outward.
Every dancer carries a spark of expression. When those sparks connect, patterns begin to appear — relationships form, ideas echo, and meaning grows larger than any one performer. Constellations explores how artists shape one another, how styles speak across traditions, and how a community of dancers becomes something greater together than apart.
The program will feature classical and contemporary works from Ballet Kalamazoo alongside invited regional studios, collegiate dancers, guest choreographers, and outstanding student artists. KAL | Dance offers a rare opportunity for young performers to share the stage, exchange inspiration, and experience a professional concert environment.
