We have a STRICT UNIFORM POLICY.  Student in our Children's Ballet and the  Conservatory at Ballet Kalamazoo must wear their required uniform to their classes. Please secure the hair in a bun or a tied-down braid for all ballet classes, and all dangled jewelry must be removed.

In classical ballet, adhering to a specific dress code is crucial to maintaining a focused and distraction-free learning environment. This ensures that both the teacher and dancers are able to fully immerse themselves in the technical aspects of ballet without getting sidetracked by what's in vogue. Additionally, having a dress code fosters discipline and instills a sense of pride in students, encouraging them to approach their practice with the seriousness and focus it deserves. By establishing a calm and peaceful atmosphere, students are able to mentally prepare themselves for physical success, both in and out of class. When it's time to take the stage, the use of distinctive and detailed costumes celebrates the students' technical prowess and the dedication they have shown throughout their training, marking the culmination of their efforts in the most visually stunning way.

We encourage our dancers to wear tights and shoes that match their skin.  We value individual beauty and nurture a connection to the mind, body, and soul.  By elongating our lines, we push beyond ourselves, break traditions and go confidently toward our dreams.

For dance family convenience, Ballet Kalamazoo has asked The Shop at The Station to stock leotards in our uniform colors. Additional leotard styles in each uniform color are available by special order and online. The Shop at The Station team is happy to help you find your match and answer any questions.

The website contains links to help with color reference when purchasing ballet uniforms, but please refrain from selecting styles with attached tutus or skirts. In case of any confusion, please feel free to reach out to myself or Jennifer at The Station. For those looking to support a local business, I highly recommend shopping at The Station Dancewear or visiting our pop up shop at the studio. If online shopping is preferred, I suggest Discount Dance, Bloch, or Ballet Rosa. Additionally, during the summer season, dancers are not required to wear their uniform color and can explore fun and vibrant options.
