Dance Classes for Kids Kalamazoo

Imagine:

Little dancers tiptoeing on stage to perform in their very first ballet!

 How do they feel?

Excited, hopeful, full of yearning for a future

filled with dance, friendship, and accomplishment.

The last note of music plays, and the dancers

take their bows to the resounding applause of the audience.

The little dancers

catch their breaths

and take it all in

They did it!

STUDY THE ART OF CLASSICAL BALLET

Our 2024 Season is now open for registering!

Ballet Kalamazoo is a year-round training school for classical and contemporary ballet.

Our 2023/2024 Season runs September 5th - May 23rd, 2024 ending with a school-wide ballet performance,

Cinderella, May 18th & 19th  2024 at Comstock Community Auditorium.

June-August, we have summer  3-week ballet classes, Fairytale Ballet Camps, and our August Dancer Intensive.

Each year, we perform The Nutcracker Kalamazoo, our Kalamazoo-inspired story of the beloved holiday ballet.

The performances are on December 7th and 8th, 2024 at Comstock Community Auditorium.

Our Ballet Program pays by the month. Tuition is posted each month on the 1st of the month and due by the 5th of the month.

Pre-Primary Ballet, Primary Ballet, and Level One Ballet have a Winter/Spring from January 8th - May 23rd, 2024.  Sessions are billed monthly.

Dancers in Level 2+ not wishing to join the conservatory can continue their training at their level without meeting the class requirements.

We have many competition dancers and athletes who take one ballet class a week or private lessons to support their training.

Your first class with us is free to try! Please select the trial option when you register. This can help make sure your dancer is ready to commit to the full semester before buying the uniform. For the first class, please wear something comfortable to move in like leggings and a t-shirt or dance attire if you have one already. If they decide to sign up, then we do require a uniform.

Dress Code: In classical ballet, dancers are asked to wear specific attire in a very uniform manner. The number one reason for this is to prevent distraction in the classroom. The teacher and dancers can work clearly on the technical artistry that ballet demands instead of getting lost in what’s fashionable. The second reason for a dress code is discipline. When a student prepares physically for something (like ballet class) they focus, they take it seriously, and they gain pride in themselves.

We require every student in our Children's Ballet Program and the  Conservatory Program to secure the hair in a bun or a tied-down braid for all ballet classes, and all dangled jewelry must be removed.

CHILDREN'S BALLET DIVISION

Our Children's Ballet builds a strong foundation in classical ballet technique using imaginative ideas that build muscle memory, strength, musicality, flexibility and teamwork. These classes prepare the dancers wishing to continue with the Ballet Kalamazoo Conservatory.
